Toyota is reintroducing a legend to Canadian streets. The Japanese carmaker recently announced that the 2020 Toyota GR Supra will be returning to showrooms for the first time in more than 20 years, bringing back a legendary nameplate and giving it a boost of power.
“This is the classic Toyota sports car that racing enthusiasts have demanded — equally at home on the track as it is on the open road or the city street, aggressively styled to convey its authentic performance credentials, and loaded with features and amenities that will remind every Supra owner just how much fun driving can be,” said Cyril Dimitris, vice president of Toyota Canada.
The 2020 Supra takes Toyota’s iconic sports car and brings it into the future. This two-seater coupe has earned Toyota’s first-ever “GR” badge, which shows that it has been track tested and fine-tuned by GAZOO Racing. It boasts a balanced, lightweight body. The Supra’s vigorous engine, a 3.0-litre inline-six, uses a twin-scroll turbocharged, direct injection, and variable valve timing to pump out 335 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, the Supra can go 0-96 km/h in just 4.1 seconds.
The Supra offers more than just outstanding performance. It also comes standard with features like a 12-speaker premium JBL® audio system with an 8.8-inch screen, SiriusXM® Satellite Radio, and Apple CarPlay™ smartphone integration.
Excited yet? You won’t have much longer to wait — the new Supra goes on sale this summer at Toyota on Front.
